    Files carry more than what you see on screen. We read the parts that are stored but not shown, and tell you plainly what each one is.

    A zero-width space sits between letters but draws nothing. It can break search, word counts and code, and can be used to mark copied text. Tag characters go further and spell out invisible messages.

    Metadata is where your location and camera details hide, so that's what the cleaner removes. Content Credentials stay, because removing an AI label would mislead whoever sees the image next.

    Questions

    Does ChatGPT put hidden watermarks in text?

    Not in a way anyone can confirm by looking at characters. Copied AI text often contains non-breaking spaces and similar leftovers, and this tool finds those. Companies that do watermark text do it in word choice, which no character cleaner can see or remove.

    Will cleaning my text get past AI detectors?

    No, and we don't claim it will. Detectors judge writing patterns, not invisible characters. Cleaning is for tidy formatting and for removing anything hidden you didn't put there.

    Can you remove SynthID from an image?

    No. SynthID is woven into the pixels and built to survive edits. We point you to Google's free detector so you can check for it.

    Why do you keep Content Credentials when cleaning?

    They are a signed record of how an image was made, including whether AI made it. Your location and camera details are yours to remove. A label that tells people an image is AI-generated isn't.

    Are my files uploaded anywhere?

    No. Every check runs in your browser on your own device. Nothing you paste or drop is sent to a server or stored. Turn off your Wi-Fi and the tools still work.

    Which files can I check?

    Any pasted text; JPEG, PNG and WebP images; MP4 and MOV videos; and Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF documents. Cleaning documents and videos is coming with Pro.
